Starting today, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which is is the first smartphone with the latest Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system officially available in the UK.  The first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich handset that we’ve been waiting for is finally available for those lucky bastards folks who live in the United Kingdom. The handset is also available online through multiple retailers. With no official US launch solidified, people looking forward to the Verizon variant are still left reeling for the sexy handset.

The Galaxy Nexus is the latest in a line of flagship device launches for Google, a program it began after collaborating with HTC to launch the first Android phone, the HTC Dream, in October 2008. Working closely with a single manufacturer, Google prepares each major iteration of Android for launch with a brand new device. The practice eventually became what we now know as the “Nexus” program, beginning with the HTC Nexus One almost two years ago. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus brings a ton of new and very welcome features with Ice Cream Sandwich. The design is sharp, the screen is gorgeous, and the internal performance is fantastic.

Ice Cream Sandwich completely revamps Android into the mobile operating system it was meant to be. There’s a polish and ease of use with Android 4.0 that many didn’t believe was possible but thanks to Matias Duarte and the Android team, Google’s geeky OS has finally grown up in the best of ways. It’s still Android at heart but it has finally hit puberty and has grown up a lot in its short lifetime.

As to Camera, video and music, The Galaxy Nexus also has an integrated Movie Studio app for creating your own video projects. With a 1,280×720-pixel Super AMOLED resolution, the HD display is wonderfully bright and vivid with eye-popping colors. Everything looks great, from graphics to photos to menu icons, and you can customize the five home screens with the Google Search bar, menu icons, and widgets.
