For iPhone: Enjoy Karaoke Singing With Anyone Around The World

Karaoke is an activity that has been providing people with entertainment for decades. It is a real confidence booster, and might let you discover your hidden talents as well. Everyone likes singing along to their favorite songs, and Karaoke is the thing that takes this habit to the next (and more serious) level. Smule’s new Sing! app lets you perform Karaoke versions of all the songs you love, but it doesn’t stop there. There are some really cool voice enhancement filters available in the app to make you sound like a real singer. Other than that, you can multiply the fun by collaborating with your friends (or even strangers) to sing group karaoke or duets.

You will need a Smule account in order to sing karaoke songs of your own, but without signing up for a new account, you can still enjoy songs from other users of the app. The main screen of Sing! shows a globe, and you can go anywhere on it and listen to songs that have been publicly shared over the app. The bottom bar of the main screen displays the name of the song currently being played, while you can also view comments the track has received by hitting the rightmost button in the bottom bar. If you did create a new Sing! account (possible via Facebook or email ID), you can make changes to it by heading to your profile page. So, now that you have gauged the quality of songs usually created via Sing! and want to sing a karaoke of your own, hit the Sing button at the top of the screen. The first step to singing is the selection of song. There are a few free songs available in Sing!, but most of the tracks have to be unlocked via in-app purchases of $0.99.

If you don’t like any of the free songs, you can hit the Join Song button and participate in an existing group karaoke of any song you want. In addition to group and solo, Sing! also offers the option to perform a duet if you want to invite a particular friend to complete your karaoke. Once the singing screen comes up, you can manually choose to dim out the music at any point using the slider located at the bottom of the screen. In addition to that, there are a few presets available in Sing! that will adjust the sound levels automatically to make the end result better. The main area of the singing screen in the app is occupied by live lyrics, and at the end of each session you will be assigned a score to let you know how well you performed.

For every karaoke version of a song you create, it is possible to attach album art and song description of your own to it. If you used your Facebook account to sign in to Sing!, you will get the option to publish your masterpiece over your social network as well. Sing! is a perfect app for karaoke fans, and although the in-app purchases are a real pain in the neck, you won’t mind having this app if you are looking to have some fun with friends. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch, and can be downloaded for free.
